Physician outreach initiatives offer opportunities for collaboration
In 1999 Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) and Blue Plan medical officers launched physician outreach initiatives designed to build collaborative relationships with physicians and physician groups, such as the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Chiropractic Association, among others.
Tetanus vaccine shortage continues
The CDC’s National Immunization Program (NIP) announced last month that diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis vaccine (DTaP) remain in short supply.
USPSTF urges clinicians and patients to discuss aspirin
Last month, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) strongly recommended that clinicians discuss the benefits and harms of aspirin therapy with healthy adult patients who are at increased risk of coronary heart disease (CHD), primarily heart attacks.
