HIPAA compliance deadline is fast-approaching
The deadline for compliance with the Administrative Simplification provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) will soon be here. As of Sept. 1, 2003, all electronic Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida commercial claims must be submitted through the secure, HIPAA-compliant Availity® EDI Gateway.
