Advisory panel formed in conjunction with FHA

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF) has joined with the Florida Hospital Association (FHA) to establish the Florida Hospital Advisory Panel (FHAP). The panel provides a forum for our organizations to share information on community trends, discuss industry concerns and showcase new capabilities and best practices.

The FHAP consists of a rotating membership of 20 executives representing acute-care hospitals, rehabilitation facilities and psychiatric hospitals from across the state. Participants have an opportunity to consult on strategies, policies and programs BCBSF is implementing. While the panel does not focus on specific claim issues, it does provide a venue for discussion of systemic concerns. The panel meets quarterly at FHA headquarters in Orlando.

Topics discussed during the March and June FHAP meetings included: transparency, working together to lower administrative costs, overpayment recovery, upcoming HIPAA 5010 and ICD10 changes, member and provider self service tools, administrative savings and Cover Florida.
