Go “green” for fast, efficient payments

These days everyone is looking for ways to be environmentally friendly and improve their bottom line. “Go green and help your business,” says Darnell Smith, group vice president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida’s (BCBSF) Service Organization. “Sign up today for electronic funds transfer and remittance advices!”

BCBSF offers electronic funds transfer (EFT) services for select claim payments. EFT enables you to receive claim payments deposited directly into your bank account. An average EFT transaction is faster than transferring funds by check.

EFT transactions are available for all non-Medicare BCBSF PPO and Health Options HMO products and plans. EFT is not available for the following products and attendant plans:

  • Medicare Advantage (BlueMedicare HMO, BlueMedicare PPO, BlueMedicare Private Fee-for-Service)

  • Medicare Supplement (Advantage65, Comp Coverage)

  • Traditional (conversion Option III, Dimension IV, Essential Traditional)

Registering for EFT and ERA is easy

  1. To register for EFT, complete the Electronic Funds Transfer Registration Form and attach an original voided check (no photocopies) or letter from the bank. Mail the completed form and attachment to Corporate Payables.

  2. To register for electronic remittance advices (ERAs), complete the 835 Health Care Electronic Remittance Advice Form and mail or fax to Sender Setup. Providers must register their National Provider Identifier (NPI) with BCBSF prior to submitting the 835 ERA request form. Send your completed National Provider Identifier (NPI) Notification Form to Provider Data Service Integration.

Get started going green by clicking on the links for the three forms (EFT, ERA and NPI) above or visit our website, www.bcbsfl.com. The forms are available in the Physicians & Providers section, under Tools & Resources, Forms. Each form includes the appropriate mailing address and/or fax number in the upper-right hand corner.
